Severe Weather Information

In the event of extreme weather conditions that threaten personal safety (such as a severe thunderstorm, lightning, or tornado), a ceremony will be moved inside Stabler Arena on Goodman Campus. Students should arrive by 9 a.m. dressed in regalia with printed GradPass. Students will be seated with their college inside the Arena; there will not be a student procession. Faculty should arrive dressed in regalia and will be directed to the line-up location for the procession.

The decision to move a ceremony indoors will be determined by the President and Provost. Weather updates affecting ceremony times or places will be communicated by 6:30 a.m. the morning of each ceremony. Please note: The weather will be monitored throughout the morning. If the ceremony is to take place outdoors and threatening weather approaches after 9 a.m., guests will be urged to take cover. Depending on the forecast, the President will be advised to resume or cancel the ceremony. 

If a ceremony is to move indoors, each student will receive a specified number of general admission tickets. The number of students that have RSVP’d to attend a ceremony will determine the number of tickets distributed to each student. To be prepared, these tickets will be emailed in advance to each student who confirmed their participation. Reminder: The ceremonies will be live-streamed on the Lehigh Commencement homepage. With the amount of undergraduates expected to attend the undergraduate ceremony, Baker Hall in the Zoellner Arts Center will be open for additional guests to watch the livestream of the undergraduate ceremony taking place inside Stabler Arena. Seats will be on a first-come, first-served basis inside Baker Hall.
