School Counselors

Welcome counselors! This page is designed to provide secondary, independent and CBO counselors with easy-to-access information about Lehigh, including academic options, the admission process, visit opportunities and more.

We value our relationships with each of you and recognize the important role you play in a student’s college process. We look forward to working with you as you counsel students on their higher education options.

Lehigh at a Glance

Lehigh’s ideal size provides the advantages of a large, research university along with the benefits of a small liberal arts college. Here, students learn to think critically and analytically across a wide variety of disciplines, ask questions and seek answers through research and become thoughtful, global citizens who put humanity first. Our students work collaboratively with each other and with faculty mentors who push students to pursue their passions and challenge status quo. Students who thrive here are eager, curious “doers,” seeing things not for what they are, but for what they might be. Learn about our opportunities, admitted student profile, career placement and more.

Visit

Lehigh's beautiful residential campus is nestled in the Lehigh Valley - Pennsylvania’s third largest metropolitan area - and is less than 90 minutes from New York City, Philadelphia and the Pocono Mountains. We would love for you and your students to come explore our campus and the community, but even if you can’t make it to South Mountain, you can still explore our campus through our virtual tour.

Admissions

Students who thrive at Lehigh are eager to do and blur the line between the classroom and extracurricular activities. That is why we seek students who are actively engaged in their intellectual development, take action to solve problems, pursue their interests and positively impact their communities. Our office also works to bring a diverse class to campus to represent a microcosm of the world. As a result, we read holistically, taking a wide variety of factors into account. Below, you can find details about our admissions requirements and deadlines.

Financial Aid

We recognize that Lehigh needs to be a good academic, social and also financial fit for students. We also believe each student/family has the responsibility of contributing to the student’s education. As a result, we are committed to a strong need-based financial aid program and believe that this commitment, along with a cooperative and willing family partnership, can make a Lehigh University education an attainable goal. Our affordability combined with the high starting and mid-career salaries of Lehigh graduates has placed Lehigh on a number of national lists for value and return on investment. Students who submit a complete financial aid application after our deadlines are at risk of not being funded. Please feel free to contact our helpful Financial Aid Staff if you have questions.

Academic Experience

Lehigh is uniquely positioned to prepare students for the world’s challenges-providing flexibility to pursue and combine studies across disciplines. Since our founding, we have focused on multidisciplinary and experiential education, faculty mentorship and creative inquiry. We challenge students to take intellectual risks and learn from failures, work collaboratively and across cultures and to effect sustainable change. Here at Lehigh, we’re not afraid to roll up our sleeves and tackle real world problems. We firmly believe that our students cultivate their capacity for innovation and are prepared for success beyond Lehigh.

Beyond the Classroom

An intrinsic component of the Lehigh experience is the blend of rigorous academics with a full range of living and learning experiences beyond the classroom. Lehigh has an active student body that celebrates our many traditions-whether it is our 150+ clubs and organizations, our athletic programs (including Division I teams in the Patriot League), Greek life or the arts, there are many opportunities to grow and develop outside of the classroom. With a focus on educating the whole student, we offer many opportunities to participate in community service, leadership development and many other areas we see as necessary to be a contributing community member.
