The Lehigh University Board of Trustees appointed a Presidential Search Committee to lead this important search, with the assistance of the search firm, Isaacson, Miller. At the behest of the Board of Trustees, the Search Committee will solicit input from the Lehigh community with respect to your goals and aspirations for the University's next president and the opportunities and challenges for the future leadership of Lehigh.
Maria L. Chrin ’87 ’10P (vice chair, Board of Trustees) and Philip B. Sheibley ’81 ’19P (vice chair, Board of Trustees) will co-chair the committee of 16 members who represent the trustees, alumni, faculty, staff and student body. See all the members >
The Search Committee will identify and evaluate potential candidates to serve as our next president and will share with the Board of Trustees the Search Committee's recommendations.
The search chairs will organize and lead all the activity of the Search Committee. They are the spokespersons for the search committee. They will provide regular updates to the Lehigh University community and will address any questions or concerns from members of the community during the search process.
We are committed to building the strongest and deepest candidate pool possible for our presidential search. We will be working to convince the most talented academic leaders in the US and abroad to consider this opportunity. Many of our candidates will hold key positions at other institutions and will only submit an application if confidentiality is guaranteed. Members of the search committee have signed an agreement that secures confidentiality for all discussions and deliberations related to the presidential search.
The Search Committee will have the support of the firm Isaacson, Miller.
It is the goal of the Search Committee to move the search process along as quickly and efficiently as possible while acting in what the members believe to be the best interests of the University. Like many searches of this kind, it is difficult to predict exactly when the search will conclude. Updates will be provided to the Lehigh community as decisions are made and information becomes available. The committee is charged with recommending to the Board as soon as feasible, candidates who are best qualified to lead Lehigh University as its next president.
Yes, any internal candidate will be given the same consideration as an external candidate.
The Presidential Search Committee will develop, in consultation with the Board of Trustees, an inclusive and transparent search process. Its members will engage key constituents to learn and understand the University’s aspirations for its next president. Community engagement will include open forums for faculty, staff and students (dates to be determined soon) and online feedback mechanisms including regular communications via email and the web.
Please send an email to inlusrch@lehigh.edu to provide your input or submit a question. Ainsley Lamberton (Administrative Director of the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies), the Search Committee coordinator, will share your input with the Committee.
Please submit nominations via the Isaacson, Miller website. All nominations will be handled confidentially by Isaacson, Miller.
We are conducting an international search to identify the very best candidates available. Advertisements will be placed in trade, national, state and local publications. We also ask faculty, students, alumni and friends of the University to recommend or nominate candidates for the position.
