Through-lines

Through-lines are values and initiatives that are already underway, which must inform the ideas that emerge from the work of the working groups. Through-line champions are content experts and serve as advocates, ensuring those values are infused in the emerging key initiatives.

Through-lines and Champions

Diversity & Inclusion: a commitment to ensuring that all members of our community feel safe, supported, valued and welcomed. The DI&E strategic plan will be referenced and the work will focus on its desired outcomes. Champions of this through-line will be knowledgeable about the existing DI&E strategic plan, goals and measures of progress and will serve as an advocate, ensuring those values are infused in the emerging key initiatives of the strategic plan.

Environmental & Fiscal Sustainability: a commitment to both environmental and fiscal sustainability. Sustainability strategic plan goals as well as the need to maintain fiscal sustainability will be cornerstones of any recommendations. Champions of this through-line will be knowledgeable about the existing revenue sources available and what options for new resources exist; champions of this through-line will also be knowledgeable about the existing 2030 sustainability strategic plan, its goals and the progress measures and will serve as an advocate to ensure that these principles are applied to the emerging key initiatives.

Operational Excellence: a focus on administrative efficiency, collaboration and agility. Administrative agility, as well as sufficient support, are necessary to sustain new initiatives and existing structures. Recommendations will identify needed administrative resources. Champions of this through-line will be mindful of organizational pitfalls that need to be addressed, policies that should be aligned and infrastructure that will be needed to support initiatives.

Place: campus assets, buildings, region, community/Bethlehem and/or land holdings. Location and physical and structural resources needed to support new initiatives will be considered for all recommendations. Champions of this through-line will be mindful of the existing master plans and facilities projects as well as the state of the existing physical infrastructure so they can respond to the recommendations with information to support the needed resources to succeed.
