Master's in Structural Engineering

P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science

Master's in Engineering in Structural Engineering Overview

The Master of Science in Structural Engineering are master’s degree programs with required core courses in their respective areas. Students in these programs will also have access to a broad portfolio of electives offered by the CEE Department, as well as courses from other departments.

Students in all CEE Master of Science degrees can choose one among the following three options.

  • Thesis: This is a research-oriented option, and the final product is a Master’s Thesis. The thesis should reflect a study of a civil, environmental, or structural engineering problem with no existing solution and the contributions should be suitable for publication in a refereed technical journal.
  • Project: The project is a more flexible option than a thesis and may be research or design oriented. The project involves a significant effort of independent work, including literature search, engineering analysis, synthesis of information, and engineering judgment.
  • Course only: In this case, the student will complete the program with 30 credits of coursework without a specific final product.
