Lehigh's undergraduate major and minor in Population Health prepares students to investigate the determinants of health using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methodologies. Students learn to examine the burden and distribution of diseases, and to identify novel and effective avenues for disease prevention and health promotion. Our interdisciplinary program inspires students to engage beyond the academic setting to learn how to develop and evaluate interventions in collaboration with healthcare organizations, communities, policymakers, and other partners. Students gain knowledge and skills through coursework, experiential learning opportunities, research projects, and engagement with traditional and nontraditional partners in pursuit of a healthier world. The undergraduate major inPopulation Health provides students with a strong conceptual background in Population Health as well as extensive methodological expertise in data science and epidemiology. Students in the major are required to choose from the following concentrations: (1) Environmental Health, (2) Epidemiology, and (3) Health Policy and Systems.
Lehigh alumni with a major or minor in Population Health pursue careers in medicine and allied health professions, public health, epidemiology, health law, healthcare management, health policy, and in national or international health and development organizations.
