This Pennsylvania Department of Education-approved 15-course program is designed for educators who are interested in assuming a position as a principal. The requirements for the K-12 Principal Certification program (also offered online) include an earned master’s degree along with completion of other specific requirements. Students take courses in organization and leadership, management functions, curriculum and supervision, and addressing the needs of diverse learners.
In addition, the Pennsylvania Department of Education requires that a candidate have completed a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at a state-approved school, be a United States citizen and successfully complete the PRAXIS in Administration and Supervision to receive certification as a school principal.
