Education Minor

Study education practice and policy and how they impact student learning.

Lehigh’s Education Minor offers students the opportunity to explore education fields, complementing their primary area of study with a foundational understanding of teaching, learning, and educational systems.

This interdisciplinary program is designed for those interested in careers in school teaching or other professional roles involving elementary, secondary, or special education students. While completing the minor, students learn about how teaching and learning occur in a variety of professional contexts with learners across the lifespan and with a range of identities.

Key Benefits

  • Advanced Coursework: Take selected coursework that combines practical activities with theoretical work and provides a foundation for further studies at the graduate level.
  • Engaging Topics: Explore special topics and interest areas, including early childhood education, technology in the classroom, international education policy and curriculum development.

Coursework

Any undergraduate student at Lehigh University can declare this minor but must initiate it no later than the beginning of their junior year. The education minor consists of five courses selected from a range of education-related topics in consultation with an academic advisor from the College of Education. Completion of the minor does not assure admission to one of the Teacher Education Programs to become a certified elementary or secondary teacher.
