Clayton UC Time Capsule

Time Capsule Planned for Clayton University Center Preserves Lehigh’s History

The time capsule is slated to be opened in 2075.

As Lehigh transforms the Clayton University Center (Clayton UC) into a vibrant hub for student life and the heartbeat of the campus community, the rich history of both the Clayton UC and the university will be preserved with a time capsule.

The time capsule will be embedded into the wall of the west lobby on the first floor of the Clayton UC, which is currently being reimaged through renovations. The capsule is slated to be opened in 2075–50 years after the renovation of the building is completed.

The time capsule will be filled with items representing life at Lehigh in 2025.

The university is looking to the community to determine which items should be included. What would best represent the university to capture this moment in time? A Lehigh swipe card? Lehigh gear? A research thesis? A menu from The Goose? Photos of current students? Items gathered will paint a picture of life at Lehigh in 2025 for future generations of the Lehigh family.

The Lehigh campus community is invited to share suggestions for items by March 15, 2024.
