Dear Students,
We are writing to update you about our preparations for the Spring 2021 term. Like the Fall 2020 term, our spring curriculum will be offered in a way that will support students who will be coming to the campus, as well as students who are unable to be present in classrooms. First, there are several calendar changes of which you should be aware as you plan your academic schedule. Second, based on feedback from students, we are making small adjustments to how we describe the modes of instructional delivery. Finally, expect to receive an email from us with details (including links to our mandatory pre-registration survey) early next week.

Calendar
As previously announced, Lehigh University has also revised the academic calendar for the upcoming term (see the message from the Provost here). The key change for students is that the start of spring term classes is being delayed by one week. This means that the first day of spring classes will be on February 1, 2021. In addition, the university is cancelling Spring Break, previously scheduled for March 15-19. At this time, we do not anticipate that these changes will affect the scheduling of final exams.

Modes of Instruction
It is important that you understand the ways in which courses may be offered, especially if you do not plan to attend classes on-campus this spring. We urge you to read this information carefully, as we are providing information that is very important for the registration process (See General Academics on website). Reviewing this information in advance will help you understand the Spring 2021 course offerings when the schedule becomes available.
Note: Courses with scheduled common hour exams will have the date and time of the exam noted on the course schedule. Although this designation will not apply to most courses, this new feature will allow students to plan their schedules while avoiding conflicts with these periodic examinations.
We suggest that you continue to monitor your Lehigh University email account regularly for updates. If you have any questions, please email us at ras@lehigh.edu or reach out via live chat (M-F 9:00AM-4:00PM EDT).
Sincerely,
Registration & Academic Services Team
