Q: How has Lehigh prepared you to take on tomorrow’s challenges?
A: It's all about the people. I'm a firm believer that you must be able to take care of yourself and be independent, but you can't overlook having a support system. I've found my best friends and amazing mentors here, and I couldn't imagine trying to navigate the rest of my time here without them.
Q: What is a classroom or extracurricular activity at Lehigh that helped you determine (or solidified) what you want to pursue in the future?
A: Finding my niche as a photographer has really helped to cement that as a career path for me. I've now had hands-on experience with sports photography, photojournalism, and other creative projects. It's through The Brown and White and Lehigh Sports that I've gotten to expand my portfolio.
Q: You’re an associate photo editor for the Lehigh newspaper, The Brown and White, can you tell us a little about that?
A: Yes! I've loved working with The Brown and White as a photographer and associate photo editor. As an associate editor I've had the pleasure of working with other creatives – writers, digital artists, broadcasters – who are also passionate about our Lehigh community. Mostly, I help process photos that come in for print and web publication. I'll continue working with The Brown and White as a photographer and I'm looking forward to watching the publication continue to thrive.
Q: Did you visit several universities, why Lehigh?
A: Lehigh was the only school I applied to. From the time I was little I was immersed in the Lehigh community through my family. I remember volunteering every year at different events and just falling in love with the magic of the campus. Visiting my mom in her office at Alumni Memorial made me feel like I was visiting Hogwarts. It just felt like a natural fit for me. As I was applying to Lehigh I found out about the Lehigh Launch program, and from that moment on I knew this is where I belonged.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Lehigh?
A: The vibes are just great. I couldn't tell you how many times I've been wearing Lehigh merch while traveling and someone strikes up a conversation with me about it – usually they are an alumnus or know someone who went or is currently a student. During Lehigh Launch, we were in Wyoming in a very small town with a population of about 2k people, in the middle of the desert, and a man on the sidewalk said "Hey Lehigh! Go Hawks!" and it just made my day. Everyone is so nice and you create an instant connection with the Lehigh name.
Q: Where is your study spot of choice on campus?
A: I adore the greenhouse in Williams Hall in nice weather, but really anywhere in Williams. It's very bright, airy, and always smells good because of the Global Café.
