Lehigh Professionals in the Field
As a new intercollege interdisciplinary program, IBH does not have program alumni yet so, to provide a look at career paths we connected with Lehigh alumni whose work intersects the fields of business and health. They’ve shared some thoughts on how they believe this program could set IBH graduates up for success.
Joshua Raskin ’95 - Partner at Nephron Research
Q: How can the IBH program prepare students for new careers that emerge as the industry continues to evolve?
A: “One area that will be very exciting is the segment of value-based care. To the extent students have a good sense of population health, new care models, and specifically value-based care, there is a great opportunity to become the leaders of these companies tomorrow. Because the industry is so new, there isn’t really an established base of knowledge yet, which means there’s opportunity for new people to create those opportunities.”
Jason Clemens ’00 - CFO at AdaptHealth
Q: Why would you recommend this degree to a student/what kind of career would you recommend a student with this degree pursue?
A: “This degree is an interesting option for anyone drawn to healthcare but aiming to keep their options open. There is big demand for people with core business skills who understand the healthcare landscape and the policies that govern it. Healthcare is broad and diverse, so spending time learning the nuances of each sector will help you match your skills and interests to the right career. Your first job won’t be your last, but with this degree, you’ll have plenty of options.”
Jon McMillan ’98 - Head of Strategic Development at Hologic
Q: What do you think sets this degree apart from a traditional public health or business degree?
A: “A student in the IBH program will receive a solid foundational education in business and healthcare, which they can then expand into specialized areas like health economics, market accessibility, or specific disease and treatment technologies. Lehigh’s international community also offers tremendous networking opportunities to explore global healthcare. This combination prepares students to make a positive difference in society, communities, and families around the world.”
