Writing Minor

Explore classic and contemporary texts while strengthening your professional writing.

Lehigh’s Writing Minor teaches students how to examine literature and how it shapes ourselves and the world. By engaging in close readings and classroom discussions, students develop their critical reading skills and express their written ideas with clarity and confidence.

Within the minor, students gain experience with reading and analyzing texts and build foundational knowledge of British, American, and world literature. Whether you're interested in journalism, technical writing, digital media, or rhetoric, this minor is a great complement to any field of study.

Key Benefits

  • Different Pathways: Lehigh has a wide variety of courses to fit students’ interests—from Shakespeare to the Romantic era, Harlem Renaissance, and postcolonial literature—and offerings are flexible enough to allow cross-disciplinary study.
  • Great Versatility: The writing and communication skills developed while studying literature can be applied to any profession after graduation.

Coursework

Any undergraduate student at Lehigh University can declare this minor.
