What are your research interests?

My group aims to understand the mechanics of architected composites and interfaces that sustain mechanical integrity under extreme conditions. I study how material arrangement, constitutive response, interfacial mechanics, and environmental degradation collectively govern damage and performance across scale. By coupling predictive multi-physics computational modeling with advanced multi-material additive manufacturing, my group aims to develop multifunctional materials that are simultaneously strong, tough, and sustainable for applications across infrastructure, energy, aerospace, and beyond.

What classes are you teaching at Lehigh?

ME 17 - Numerical Methods in Mechanical Engineering

What degrees do you hold and where did you earn them?

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Virginia Tech); Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Virginia Tech); Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Virginia Tech)

What was your previous institution?

Princeton University

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

The look in my students' faces when they realize it all makes sense now, that they got it, they learned that very difficult and annoying topic that they struggled with for days and weeks. I love standing in front of a full class, teaching, asking questions, interacting and engaging with students. It's an experience that has no match.

Why did you choose Lehigh?

I chose Lehigh for its focus on interdisciplinary research, how it encourages it across departments, the collaborative spirit, the size of its student population, and the quality of its students and faculty. I have all I need here to succeed and lead a fruitful career in academia.
