Statement on Department of Education Campus Crime Program Review

A Statement from University Leadership

On Wednesday, June 10, Lehigh received notice that the U.S. Department of Education has opened an off-site campus crime program review of the university. The objective of this review is to examine Lehigh’s compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, more commonly known as the Clery Act, and the Drug-Free Schools and Community Act (DFSCA).

We are sharing this information with you so that you are aware that this investigation is now open, and to let you know that Lehigh intends to fully cooperate with the department throughout the process.

It is important to note that that this DoE review is independent of and unrelated to the internal review of the Lehigh University Police Department we announced this week as part of our broader plan to become an actively anti-racist institution.

We hope that both of these review processes will inform and further guide our efforts to create a safe environment for all members of the Lehigh community.
