Lehigh Names Four New Trustees

The four new board members began their terms on July 1.

Four new members have joined Lehigh University’s Board of Trustees, as the board bids a grateful farewell to nine outgoing trustees.

On July 1, Michele Scaringella ’90 and Amy Weaver ’22P began three-year terms as appointed trustees, and Deidre Martin ’06 and Jill Triani ‘94 began three-year terms as alumni trustees.

Retiring trustees include alumni trustee Jennifer S. Gonzalez ’08 ’09G; corporate trustee Francis J. Ingrassia ’75 ’16P; corporate trustee Jane P. Jamieson ’75; corporate trustee Joseph R. Perella ’64 ’06H; appointed trustee Karen S. Schaufeld ’83 ’15P ’17P; corporate trustee Brad Eric Scheler ’74 ’05P ’08P ’09PG; corporate trustee Dennis E. Singleton '66; appointed trustee Tara I. Stacom ’80; and appointed trustee John J. Vresics Jr. ’81 ’12P.

The four new trustees bring to the board a wealth of experience and perspectives, as well as a deep commitment to the university, said Chair of the Trustees Kevin Clayton ’84 ‘13P.

“Each has also demonstrated an unwavering dedication to Lehigh, and they will no doubt make significant contributions in their new roles,” said Clayton, who also lauded the work of those trustees who concluded their terms on the board.

“Over the years, they have consistently served Lehigh with distinction, always guided by a shared goal of doing what is best for the university,” he said. “I know I join with the university leadership team and the campus community in expressing our gratitude for their guidance and for their dedication.”

At their May 2019 meeting, the board’s Committee on Nominations and Trusteeship also named the following appointed trustees to new five-year terms as corporate trustees: Jordan Hitch ’88 ’20P ’21P; James Maida ’85 ’17P ’19P; Sarat Sethi ’92; Richard Verma ’90; and Mark Yeager ’81.

Michele Scaringella

Michele Scaringella ’90

Appointed Trustee Michele Scaringella ’90 is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CBS Television Stations, based in New York City. As CFO, she has financial and strategic oversight for the twenty-eight local television stations owned and operated by CBS Corporation. Prior to assuming this position in 2010, she was Senior Vice President Internal Audit for CBS Corporation. Prior to CBS separating from Viacom in 2006, she worked for Viacom as the vice president in charge of Financial Reporting and Analysis. Scaringella has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Lehigh. She also served as a member of the Lehigh Accounting Program Advisory Board for many years.

Amy Weaver

Amy Weaver ’22P

Appointed trustee Amy Weaver ’22P is President, Legal & Corporate Affairs, General Counsel and Secretary at Salesforce. Weaver has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College and a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School. At Salesforce, she leads the legal, compliance, internal audit, security, and government affairs teams. She is a member of the company’s executive committee. Prior to joining Salesforce, Weaver was executive vice president and general counsel of Univar Inc., where she was responsible globally for all legal and corporate affairs, governance, corporate transactions, compliance, litigation and employment law matters. Previously, Weaver was senior vice president and deputy general counsel at Expedia, Inc. Weaver practiced law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore and at Perkins Coie LLP. Prior to entering private practice, she served as a legislative aide to a member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council and as a clerk on the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Deidre Martin

Deidre Martin ’06

Alumni Trustee Deidre Martin ’06 is owner of the Law Office of Deidre Martin, Esq. LLC in Manahawkin, N.J. Martin received a Bachelor of Science degree in business economics from Lehigh University, and she earned her Juris Doctorate from Drexel Law in 2013. Prior to attending law school, she worked for The Martin Corporation in Pocono Pines, Pa., and New York Life Insurance in Manhattan, N.Y. Martin currently practices law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and her practice is mainly focused on New Jersey real estate, land use and construction litigation matters. She received the Lehigh University Alumni Award in 2016 and has served on the Lehigh Club of Philadelphia and the Young Alumni Council. She is currently the President of the Lehigh Lawyers Association.

Jill Triani

Jill Triani ’94

Alumni trustee Jill Triani ’94 is past President of the Lehigh University Alumni Association Board of Directors. She graduated from Lehigh with a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture and received her Master’s degree in architecture from the University of Michigan. Triani worked in high-end residential architecture for six years before leaving the field to start a family. She served as the Michigan Alumni Club President, a member of the Lehigh Leadership Council, the Reunion Chair Class of 1994, and the Class of 1994 flag bearer at the first-year student rally.
