Four new members have joined Lehigh University’s Board of Trustees, as the board bids a grateful farewell to nine outgoing trustees.
On July 1, Michele Scaringella ’90 and Amy Weaver ’22P began three-year terms as appointed trustees, and Deidre Martin ’06 and Jill Triani ‘94 began three-year terms as alumni trustees.
Retiring trustees include alumni trustee Jennifer S. Gonzalez ’08 ’09G; corporate trustee Francis J. Ingrassia ’75 ’16P; corporate trustee Jane P. Jamieson ’75; corporate trustee Joseph R. Perella ’64 ’06H; appointed trustee Karen S. Schaufeld ’83 ’15P ’17P; corporate trustee Brad Eric Scheler ’74 ’05P ’08P ’09PG; corporate trustee Dennis E. Singleton '66; appointed trustee Tara I. Stacom ’80; and appointed trustee John J. Vresics Jr. ’81 ’12P.
The four new trustees bring to the board a wealth of experience and perspectives, as well as a deep commitment to the university, said Chair of the Trustees Kevin Clayton ’84 ‘13P.
“Each has also demonstrated an unwavering dedication to Lehigh, and they will no doubt make significant contributions in their new roles,” said Clayton, who also lauded the work of those trustees who concluded their terms on the board.
“Over the years, they have consistently served Lehigh with distinction, always guided by a shared goal of doing what is best for the university,” he said. “I know I join with the university leadership team and the campus community in expressing our gratitude for their guidance and for their dedication.”
At their May 2019 meeting, the board’s Committee on Nominations and Trusteeship also named the following appointed trustees to new five-year terms as corporate trustees: Jordan Hitch ’88 ’20P ’21P; James Maida ’85 ’17P ’19P; Sarat Sethi ’92; Richard Verma ’90; and Mark Yeager ’81.
