Lehigh women’s lacrosse assistant coach Katie O’Donnell has been named to the official tryout roster for the 2021 U.S. women’s national team.

One of 50 players invited to try out, O’Donnell has been a member of the U.S. program since graduating from Penn State in 2018.

The tryout will determine the roster that will represent the Red, White and Blue during the 2021 World
Lacrosse Championship, scheduled for July 7-17 at Towson University in Maryland. It will mark the first time the event is held in the United States since 2005. As of mid-November, the tryouts had not yet been scheduled because of the pandemic.

As a senior at Penn State, O’Donnell was the 2018 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year. Named a captain as a junior and senior, she was an IWLCA first team All-American as a senior. O’Donnell ended her career fourth in program history for career goals (203) and sixth in points (227). As a senior, she had 61 goals, six assists, 36 ground balls, 27 draw controls and 21 caused turnovers.

In her first season on the Lehigh staff, O’Donnell helped the Mountain Hawks post a 6-2 record before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
