BBC featured Danielle Lindemann, professor of sociology in the article "There are signs the reality-television industry is trying to change following BIPOC cast-member complaints about portrayal and stereotyping. Can it work?"

In this piece, BBC analyzes inclusivity in reality television and looks at how the industry is trying to change following BIPOC cast-member complaints about portrayal and stereotyping.

"Reality TV is a social construction and like all social constructions, we say as sociologists, it’s kind of slippery. The boundaries are kind of difficult to discern," said Lindemann.

Lindemann says a concern of hers is the types of representation people of color receive.

"I think it's important to think of not just who is represented but also how they are represented," Lindemann says. "It’s important to attend to that as well and not just say, 'Okay, well, we've met our quota.'"
