Lehigh students work with Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Shamim Pakzad to measure vibrations of traffic going over the Gene Hartzell Memorial Bridge, which spans the Lehigh River, connecting Route 33 and Interstate 78. The student research team has been collecting data from fixed and mobile sensors to build and train an artificial intelligence model for bridge maintenance and management. The project is in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and supported by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
