Dear Colleagues,
I am reaching out to you, Lehigh’s instructors of record, to gather information I need to complete the fall 2020 academic schedule. As President Simon stated in his June 10 email update, we must all expect that this will not be a normal semester. We can expect that some significant portion of the fall curriculum should be offered through multiple modes, either in-person or remotely, or possibly both. As this discussion continues, it would be helpful for Registration & Academic Services to learn your preferences as instructors.
Specifically, I am requesting that you review your fall teaching schedule and complete the short survey in this Google form. I am seeking information about each of your regularly scheduled courses this fall, excluding courses that would not usually need a specified meeting time and place (such as independent study, directed readings, thesis/dissertation credits, etc.). The survey asks about preferences for teaching remote vs. face-to-face courses, preferences for leading synchronous vs. asynchronous courses, and your interest in teaching courses in non-standard schedules, such as a condensed, half-semester fashion. Please complete this survey by 4:00 PM on Monday, June 15.
I want to be clear that this is only a survey of your current preferences, to be used for internal planning. I realize that your views may shift as conditions change. Also, please keep in mind that the final schedule of courses will reflect any new University directives and additional state health guidelines that may be published in the future.
Thank you for all that you do for our students.
Sincerely,
Steven H. Wilson, Ph.D.
Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs and Registrar
