4.14.20: Update on On-Campus Summer Programs

All on-campus summer programs through the end of July have been canceled.

Dear Campus Community,

We recently shared the decision that, given the progression of the COVID-19 crisis, all Lehigh courses offered during the summer of 2020 will be delivered via remote instruction. We continue to follow CDC guidelines, as well as the advice of Lehigh’s health professionals, as we proceed with planning for future months. We anticipate that we will need to maintain the practice of social distancing and abide by Governor Tom Wolf’s stay-at-home order for Pennsylvania well into the summer.

With that in mind, we have decided to cancel all on-campus summer programs through the end of July. This includes events and activities on all three of Lehigh’s campuses: Packer, Goodman and Mountaintop. Individual programs will be providing participants with additional details in the days to come. Whether and how programs may be on campus after the end of July will depend on guidance from state and federal authorities as well as our own judgment.

We recognize that this will disappoint many and present hardships for some, but just as we prioritize the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff, we must also safeguard the health and safety of others who may have planned to spend time on our campus this summer. We look forward to an eventual return to the in-person events and activities that countless members of our wider Lehigh family enjoy each summer.

Until then, we wish you good health.

Patrick Farrell, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Program-Specific Details

Mountaintop Summer Experience

How will the Mountaintop Summer Program be run this year?

Mountaintop projects will continue their work remotely and virtually, making substantive progress without being gathered in Building C. All projects will continue into the fall semester through CINQ courses.

How will we be able to follow the Mountaintop projects?

We will still have two rounds of “press conferences” which will be held virtually and open to the public, where teams give brief presentations of their work followed by the opportunity for Q&A.

Iacocca Conference Center

All events at the Iacocca Conference Center scheduled through the end of July have been cancelled. We will be evaluating events for August and beyond in the not too distant future.

Summer Camps and Conferences

All reservations for on-campus housing, dining, recreation and meeting space, and other services for scheduled camp and conference programs coordinated through the Office of Conference Services, are cancelled. This includes all camps/conferences scheduled through early August.
