Dear Parents and Families,
As information regarding the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) continues to evolve, we want to make you aware of what Lehigh is doing to keep students and our campus community safe.
The university senior leadership and medical professionals in the Health and Wellness Center have been monitoring the 2019-nCoV outbreak since it emerged, and continue to do so.
You may read the communications that have been sent to students and the campus on the university website. As of this date and time, there are no suspected or confirmed cases of 2019 novel coronavirus on our campus.
Your students’ health and safety are our priority. Our Health and Wellness team continues to follow guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health regarding the evaluation and management of persons who may be at risk for infection. The Health and Wellness team continues to be in close and frequent contact with the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH), the Health Bureau of the City of Bethlehem, and local healthcare partners, and to follow recommendations and guidelines for the management and well-being of our students, staff, and faculty.
Please encourage your student to read and follow the guidance provided in our most recent communication to campus, in particular the questions and answers provided on February 2. Although 2019-nCoV updates continue to dominate the news, we are reminding people that we are in the midst of influenza season and recommend precautions to prevent the spread of flu, including getting a yearly flu shot and practicing good hand hygiene. Students who have not received the flu shot yet this season can take advantage of the free flu shots provided by our Health and Wellness Center.
You may continue to read ongoing updates posted on the University website and visit the CDC for additional information about the novel coronavirus.
Sincerely,
John D. Simon ’19P
