1.28.21: Arrival Surveillance COVID-19 Testing Update

A message sent to all students.

Dear Students,

On Tuesday, we sent additional information regarding mandatory modified quarantine. When walking around on campus, including outdoors, we remind students that wearing face coverings (over your mouth and nose) is required in all public spaces. We encourage this practice for students in off-campus areas as well. Recent recommendations from the CDC and from Dr. Anthony Fauci encourage double masking (wearing two masks) when engaged in higher-risk activities.

Surveillance testing update

The university is closely monitoring a winter storm that could impact our campus operations, including the timing of arrival COVID-19 testing, early next week. More information will be sent by email regarding how to sign up for next week’s surveillance testing no later than tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, and any updates will be communicated by email.

As a reminder, the following students are required to complete mandatory arrival and surveillance testing throughout the semester:

  • fully remote undergraduate students living in Bethlehem;
  • undergraduate students living off campus in Bethlehem and accessing campus;
  • undergraduate students living in residence halls;
  • graduate students taking in-person classes; and
  • graduate students living in Lehigh housing

Inclement weather

In the case of inclement weather, the university uses alerts through email, HawkWatch, and the website if campus operations are impacted.
