Understanding India
Neelam Deo |
Deo’s lecture, to be held at 4 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium, will focus on two topics: the burgeoning economy and India’s volatile relationship with its neighbors, in particular Pakistan.
“This lecture should be as interesting for business students as it is will be for political scientists, international relations majors and anyone else interested in some aspect of globalization,” says Bill Hunter, Lehigh University representative to the United Nations and the director of the Global Union.
The Global Union, India Club, World Affairs Club, Global Citizen Program and the Political Science Department co-sponsored the presentation. The lecture, titled “India and its Neighbors,” is free and open to the public.
In 2005, Deo became Consul General of India in New York. Before her role as India’s representative to the United States, she oversaw the Bangladesh, Sir Lanka and Myanmar Division in India’s Ministry of External Affairs. Deo has over 30 years of diplomatic experience, including diplomatic missions to Washington D.C., Bangkok and Rome.
