Tuition for 2009-10 academic year announced
The Lehigh University Board of Trustees recently approved an undergraduate tuition increase for 2009-10 of 2.9 percent, the smallest percentage increase in 40 years.
For the upcoming academic year, tuition will increase by $1,080 to $38,330. Typical room and board charges will increase by $430 to $10,200. The technology fee for undergraduates will remain at $300, bringing the total cost of attending Lehigh as an undergraduate (including tuition, typical room and board charges, and the undergraduate technology fee) to $48,830. Additionally, the engineering/science fee charged to all engineering students and all students with a declared major in natural sciences will increase by $10 to $430. For those students, the total cost of attending Lehigh will be $49,260.
In a Feb. 24 economic message to the Lehigh community, Lehigh President Alice P. Gast explained that the university is working hard to contain costs in the struggling economy, but remains committed to making a Lehigh education affordable and accessible. This includes sustaining and strengthening Lehigh's financial aid programs. In fact, financial aid continues to be one of our highest priorities as Lehigh plans its budgets for next year and the years beyond.
In addition, the Board approved graduate school tuition costs. The per credit-hour cost increases are as follows:
• College of Arts and Sciences: from $1,100 to $1,150
• College of Business and Economics: from $700 to $840
• P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science: from $1,100 to $1,150
• College of Education tuition remains at $525
• The per credit-hour cost of the MBA/Engineering program will increase from $880 to $910 and the per-credit hour cost of the MBA/Educational Leadership program will remain at $605
