Stuckey '75 to receive “L-in-Life” Award

Stuckey is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and was a member of Lehigh’s board of trustees from 1992 until 2006. She will receive the “L-in-Life” Award May 2.
Dave Polakoff ’86, L-in-Life co-chairman for the past 14 years, speaks for the Club of New York’s officers when he says, “Karen Stuckey's path is unique in that she has added value to not just one or two facets of the Lehigh community, but through myriad endeavors for Lehigh's betterment. Along the way Karen's contributions have inspired her campus and alumni colleagues and she has made many friends.”
The L-in-Life Award has an illustrious history within the Alumni Association. Established in 1939 by the Lehigh Club of New York, the purpose is to recognize a Lehigh alumnus for outstanding achievements in their professional life and for continued devotion and loyal service to the university.
“There is no blueprint to receive the L-in-Life Award, each of the 61 recipients has made their own mark,” says Polakoff. “Over the years, the dinner and award presentation has become one of the highlights of Lehigh's annual events calendar. It attracts alumni of all ages, as we come together to celebrate not only Lehigh, but the recipient’s particular devotion and service to Lehigh; it is an inspirational night.
“The Lehigh Club of New York is thrilled that we’re finally within the range of eligibility to bestow the award to the first female recipient, Karen L. Stuckey '75. Her Lehigh story is inspirational, as is her trailblazing, professional career with PricewaterhouseCoopers. For alumni who have never attended the ‘L-in-Life’ event, this is truly a great year to attend, and thus join the ranks of dinner regulars.”
In addition to her role as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, she was a member of Lehigh’s board of trustees from 1992 until 2006. Prior to serving on the board of trustees, she was president of the LUAA board of directors. Stuckey has also graciously hosted Incoming Student Sendoffs in the Westchester County, N.Y., area for many years. She is a longstanding member of the Asa Packer Society. In 1990, she received the Alumni Award, the highest honor LUAA bestows, for her continuing support of Lehigh. Recently, she proudly served on the presidential search committee that resulted in the hiring of Alice P. Gast.
Upon graduating from Lehigh, Stuckey, a CPA, joined the New York office of what was then Price Waterhouse. She rose within the organization, and in 1990 became the first female audit partner in the New York office. She served a wide range of clients, from multinational corporations to law firms to nonprofit entities. Since 1986, she has specialized in providing assurance and business advisory services to the investment management industry.
During her ascent up the corporate ladder, Stuckey has always reached back to help her alma mater. She was one of the original members of the Business Advisory Council, a board that offers support to the College of Business and Economics. Most recently, Stuckey donated $50,000 toward a “Women in Leadership” initiative currently being developed. One of the project’s primary objectives will be to strengthen leadership skills among female students in the College of Business and Economics.
Stuckey lives in Chappaqua, N.Y., with her husband, Henry Seduski, and their three sons. One of their sons, David, is currently a Lehigh freshman.
This year’s event will take place tonight at Cipriani 23, 200 Fifth Avenue at 23rd Street in New York City. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. Dan Zarrilli '97 is the current club president and the L-in-Life event co-chairpersons are Polakoff '86 and Stu Seltzer '87.
