Staff award winners announced
The recipients of Lehigh University Staff Recognition Awards were announced at the 2005 staff dinner, which was held on Tuesday, June 14, in the Wood Dining Room. The recipients were:
• Michael George, director of the Centennial School, and Chris Marshall, executive director of the Lehigh University Alumni Association, who both were awarded the Hillman Exempt Staff Award.
• Susan Verbalis, administrative coordinator in the College of Arts and Sciences, who was awarded the Hillman Nonexempt Staff Award.
The Hillman Awards are named for Ralf R. Hillman, Lehigh 1891, and are given by the university trustees for excellence in either teaching or research work, or for advancing the interests of the university.
• Tim Foley, director of Client Services for Library and Technology Services, who received the Lehigh University Award for Distinguished Service. That award was established in 1994 and is given annually to a member of the exempt staff who has contributed in significant ways to the Lehigh community. Recipients must have been employed at Lehigh for a minimum of five years.
• Joni Gochenour-Lehman, academic advisor in the College of Business and Economics, who was named recipient of the Alfred Noble Robinson Award. That award recognizes outstanding performance in the service of the university and unusual promise of professional achievement.
• Donna Ball, academic coordinator in the department of education and human services in the College of Education, who was named recipient of the Perry and Carol Zirkel Nonexempt Staff Award. That award was established to recognize outstanding performance and contributions by a member of the nonexempt staff.

That award was established to recognize outstanding performance and service by a member of the exempt and non-exempt staff of the University Libraries.
• Pam Steigerwalt, business manager for Library and Technology Services, was awarded the ERAC Distinguished Services Award, which is given each year by the Employee Relations Advisory Committee to recognize outstanding performance by an exempt or nonexempt staff member.
