Solar Energy Workshop Sponsored by Lehigh IMI

The International Materials Institute for New Functionality in Glass at Lehigh University (IMI) is sponsoring a solar energy workshop from Sunday, November 16th-Tuesday, November 18th, at the Sheraton Station Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The event will focus on glass for harvesting, storage, and efficient usage of solar energy.
The workshop brings together researchers in solar materials and leaders in glass manufacturing to meet and discuss the scientific challenges of glass research. The conference will give scientists a chance to share their latest discoveries, while giving companies and government agencies the opportunity to relate the difficulties they face with the glass materials already at hand.
The IMI, based in Sinclair Laboratory on Lehigh’s campus, will co-sponsor the event with the University and the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Technology Alliance.
IMI is a collaboration between the National Science Foudation, Lehigh University, and Penn State University. Dr. Himanshu Jain, the Diamond Chair Professor in the department of materials science and engineering at Lehigh, is also the director of IMI. He and Dr. Carlo Pantano, Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, and Director of the Materials Research Institute at Penn State University, are organizing the solar energy event.
Applications for participation in the solar energy workshop are due on Friday, October 10th. Please click here to view the application.
