English Majors Look Back; Humane Classrooms; Thinking About Thinking
Peter G. Beidler, professor of English at Lehigh, was featured in The Chronicle's Magazine & Journal Reader section. In the winter issue of ADE Bulletin, Beidler was mentioned in a feature about what former English majors do. Beidler conducted a survey that covered students who graduated from 1980 to 2000 and found that the English major was good preparation for professional life, but not in the way he expected. His survey found that graduates were far more likely to go into law or business than to get advanced degrees in English or education.

Michael Behe, professor of biological sciences, was mentioned in an article on Christian academics in Seattle who are disputing Darwin's theory. The most prominent members of the Intelligent Design Movement (who accept that the world was not created in six days, but rather is billions of years old) include biochemist Michael Behe from Lehigh University, the article said. Behe attacks Darwinism in his 1996 book, Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution.
