Bush Could Have Limited Fallout From Prison Scandal
Henri Barkey, chair of the international relations department at Lehigh, talked with the Online Journal about the fallout from the Iraqi prisoner scandal and what it means for U.S. relations with the Arab world. The White House's efforts to control damage in the scandal went to the highest level Wednesday when President Bush went on Arab television to condemn the abuse as abhorrent. But his comments may have been too little, too late, says Henri Barkey, a former State Department analyst. Barkey, a 50-year-old native of Turkey, worked at the State Department during the Clinton administration focusing on Iraq and the Middle East.

Rendell Administration Launches Technology-Based Economic-Development Program
The Pennsylvania Cyber Security Commercialization Initiative (PaCSCI) program will encourage and assist entrepreneurial students working on cyber security projects at six Pennsylvania universities including Lehigh, Carnegie-Mellon and Penn State. The PaCSCI is a new economic development program designed to create jobs, retain talent, stimulate the economy and position Pennsylvania for growth.

Lehigh University will exhibit part of The Joe A. Diaz Collection. A majority of the art, which includes sculptures, photographs, drawings, prints, video art and paintings, was created by American artists with Hispanic cultural roots and deals with the politics, moral views and cultural influences of this segment of society.

Wescoe School Partners with Lehigh, Announces First Summer Class Session
The Wescoe School of Muhlenberg College has forged a partnership in business education with Lehigh University’s College of Business and Economics. The partnership gives eligible adult students preferential consideration to continue a track in business administration from a bachelor of business administration at Wescoe School, to a master’s of business administration degree from Lehigh. Lehigh University is the only university in the area with an AACSB-accredited MBA program.
