Retiree: Turn to Colleges to Teach Police

Lehigh University was mentioned in an article regarding the city of Bethlehem pursuing $5 million grants for training the police force. Retiree Thomas Miller thought of tapping resources like the political science departments of Muhlenberg College and Lehigh University. He is proposing that the city reach out to a consortium of local constitutional law experts to instruct the city's 147 police officers about civil rights issues such as legal searches and privacy. ''It's a great idea, but I didn't come up with it,'' said Laura K. Olson, chairwoman of the political science department at Lehigh University. ''I wish I had.'' Miller has gotten professors at Muhlenberg and Lehigh talking about the possibility.

Friends of Music Anniversary Puts Past Winners in Spotlight

Lehigh University's dynamic young piano professor of practice music Eugene Albulescu will present a master class in Zoellner Arts Center. Master classes, which are music lessons for advanced students that are open to the public, offer great insight for music lovers.

Rockin’ By The River

The Lehigh Earth Observatory from Lehigh University is bringing a GPS system and computers to the third annual RiverFusion on Sunday, May 16. It will offer music contests, break dancing, ''Illest Mic, games, sports demonstrations, environmental information and a ''Rock the Vote'' booth.

Rev. Wayne Killian of Lehigh University will be featured at the Chaplain’s brown bag panel presentation on Friday, April 30 at noon in Hogg Hall. The Da Vinci Code will be the topic of discussion. Father Killian has researched every historical reference made in the novel.
