Students chosen for Governor's Schools
Moore than 3,600 high school students from the Colonial Intermediate Unit applied for summer classes in the 2004 Pennsylvania Governor's Schools of Excellence, one of which is being held at Lehigh University. A state tradition spanning more than three decades, the schools are a comprehensive set of residential summer programs held on college campuses. Admission to the program is highly competitive; more than 3,600 applicants vied for 806 positions this year.

Controversial filmmaker Michael Moore defended his new film Fahrenheit 911 during a national webcast Monday that was viewed locally by more than 80 residents, which was organized by students at Lehigh University. The online conference, sponsored by the MoveOn Political Action Committee, was intended to encourage discussion of Moore's film and spark dialogue about the November election. The event drew a diverse sample of Lehigh Valley residents, including students and faculty from several area schools such as Lehigh, Moravian and local high schools.
