Satirical Exhibit Gets Attention
Ricardo Viera, professor and curator of Lehigh art galleries, was interviewed for a story on the recent controversy surrounding a satirical exhibit displayed in Lehigh's Maginnes Hall entitled, The Forbidden Pictures, a Political Tableau by internationally renowned photographer Larry Fink. Viera says he makes no apologies for the display because it is meant to promote discussion. Universities are a forum for diverse ideas and intellectual challenges, he said. A few Lehigh students were also quoted in the article.

Lehigh University knew what they were getting in Mary Frances Hynoski: A solid athlete with a love for the game of basketball. They were also getting a young woman with a lot of potential. But they knew they were getting something else with Hynoski —an unlucky streak. Hynoski has been injury prone since high school. But still Lehigh knew one thing: If Mary Frances could stay healthy, it would have something special. And special is what it got.

Travis LaBerge, who studied music while at Lehigh University, started the non-profit Parlando, Inc., an organization striving to bring music into the lives of those who might not otherwise be fortunate enough to experience it. Founded in late 2003, LaBerge said the group believes lessons learned through music are an invaluable part of childhood.
