Homegrown Relief for Victims of Arsenic Poisoning In South Asia
Arup SenGupta, professor of civil and environmental engineering at Lehigh University, says he has developed such a solution in the form of an inexpensive, simple well-head unit that removes arsenic from water wells. We do not know how long the arsenic has been in the groundwater, says SenGupta. We do not know why we find it in one township and not the next, and why we sometimes find it in one well but not in another well located just 100 meters away.

Wireless Networking Means Looking for Teammates
For Lehigh University professors and students involved in wireless research, the goal is connecting to the private companies and public agencies that make wireless products. It enables them to stay abreast of developments, use special equipment, test research in the real world and identify relevant research topics. ''We need teammates,'' said Rick Blum, professor of electrical engineering and computer science who heads a communications lab at Lehigh.

Zoellner Appoints New Lighting Coordinator
Jennifer Corman has been appointed assistant lighting coordinator of Zoellner Arts Center, Lehigh University. A 2003 graduate of Muhlenberg College with a degree in theater, she has served in lighting and electrician positions for various productions.

Pressure is on Early Admissions
Although the annual frenzy over early admissions is winding down, the controversy surrounding it is picking up as the number of students applying under early admissions plans is steadily rising. Educators have long debated early-admissions policies--particularly those binding plans known as early decision, in which students who apply in the fall of their senior year find out by December whether they're admitted. If they are, they must promise to enroll.
