Engineers Says Cracks in Steel Did Not Cause Crane Collapse
John Fisher, professor emeritus of engineering at Lehigh, said engineers at Lehigh determined that fractures discovered in steel parts at the top of a crane were not the cause of the collapse that occurred on an Ohio highway last month, killing four workers and injuring four.

Engineer of the Year Builds Legacy through Education
Keith Gardiner, professor of industrial and systems engineering at Lehigh, was recently named engineer of the year. At Lehigh, he teaches courses relating to advanced manufacturing processes, strategy and management. Most recently he offered an experimental course on Aspects of Sustainable Systems Design. He also coordinates a new practical engineering course for all first engineering students.

It's Bach Festival time again. The 97th annual event will take place May 7-8 and May 13-15. The Friday programs at 4 and 8:30 p.m. include Bach cantatas and motets. The Saturday programs consist of the Ifor Jones Memorial Chamber Music Concerts at 10:30 a.m. in Zoellner Arts Center, including the American premiere of Libby Larsen's cantata ''I It Am,'' and the chamber music concerts in the Saal of the Moravian Museum at 10:30 a.m. Also on Saturdays, the Mass in B Minor in two parts at 2:15 and 4:30 p.m. in Packer Memorial Church at Lehigh University.
