Renowned New York City real estate chief to visit Lehigh

Marc Holliday ’88, chief executive officer and president of SL Green Realty Corp, will discuss his company’s recent $6 billion acquisition of Reckson Associates during a special presentation on Jan. 31 in the Zoellner Arts Center.
The event is free and open to the public, and is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m.
Holliday’s visit to Lehigh is being sponsored by the Murray H. Goodman Center for Real Estate Studies and Integrated Real Estate at Lehigh (ire@l). His speech will serve as the kickoff for the 2007 ire@l Speaker Series.
SL Green Realty Corporation is the largest owner of Class A office space in Midtown Manhattan. With the acquisition of Reckson Associates—a deal just completed on January 25—SL Green Realty now owns more than 24 million square feet of office space in Manhattan and has more than 1,200 tenants.
According to Steve Thode, director of ire@l and the Goodman Center for Real Estate Studies—as well as one of Holliday’s professors here at Lehigh—the Reckson Associates acquisition reinforces SL Green Realty's position as the premier office landlord in New York City.
“Marc is in heavy demand for speaking engagements to talk about this deal,” Thode said. “We are privileged that he has chosen Lehigh as the venue for his first public remarks about the Reckson Associates acquisition.
Holliday, 40, joined SL Green Realty Corp in 1998 as chief investment officer. In 2001, he was promoted to president, a post he now holds in addition to being CEO, effective January 2004. Since joining the company, Holliday has developed a focused business strategy that features the repositioning and strategic upgrading of his company’s portfolio to larger avenue properties with higher quality tenants.
He also serves as chief executive officer, president and a director of Gramercy Capital Corp (NYSE:GKK), a publicly-traded specialty finance company sponsored by SL Green.
Holliday received his undergraduate degree—with a major in finance—from Lehigh in 1988. He earned a master's degree in Real Estate Development from Columbia University in 1990.
The ire@l program, officially launched this past year, is an innovative, four-year real estate program that combines classroom learning and field experiences more comprehensively than any other undergraduate real estate program in the country.
