Poets&Quants for Undergrads names two Lehigh students among the ‘Best and Brightest’ business majors in the nation’s Class of 2017.
John Larson ’17
A self-described travel enthusiast and jack-of-many-trades, John Larson ’17 knew he wanted to major in business as early as age 13, when he started a business selling manure as fertilizer in his hometown of Lebanon, Ohio. He became a double major in supply chain management and marketing at Lehigh, and as a Tauck Scholar spent two months in Shanghai, China, where he worked as a supply chain intern at a textile company. He also interned at organizations in Bethlehem and Ohio. In addition to his studies, Larson spent close to 12 hours a week singing in various music groups, including a cappella at Lehigh. Following graduation, Larson joined IBM’s Consulting by Degrees program in Chicago.
Kelly Mayid ’17
A finance and management double major, Kelly Mayid ’17 was raised by her family to have goals and work hard to achieve them. At Lehigh, Mayid followed those principles and thrived. As president of the Women in Business group in the 2015-2016 school year, she helped lead efforts to organize a career conference for students that brought together influential alumni to help guide students. She was an Iacocca International Intern in Portugal for seven weeks, a program marketing intern at the Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation and vice president of finance for the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Following graduation, Mayid joined Ernst & Young in New York on the financial services business advisory team.
