Moore, Hardy to appear at Lehigh

Campus groups comprised of students, faculty, and staff have invited two well known speakers to appear on campus later this month: Michael Moore and David Hardy.
Arizona lawyer and author David T. Hardy will come to Lehigh on Oct. 28 to discuss his latest book, Michael Moore is a Big Fat Stupid White Man, in which Hardy and his co-author, Jason Clarke, challenge Moore’s views. Hardy is also the co-creator (with Clarke) of two Web sites devoted to Moore—moorelies.com and Moore exposed.com.
Hardy has also authored numerous articles and manuscripts on first and second amendment issues—the right to free speech and the right to bear arms, as well as the 1993 tragedy at Waco, Texas. The College Republicans are sponsoring Hardy’s appearance.
Moore will appear at Lehigh the following day, Friday, Oct. 29. A best-selling author and Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Moore’s most recent documentary was the provocative Fahrenheit 9/11, in which he examines the Bush administration’s actions in the wake of 9/11. His other films include Bowling for Columbine, which focused on gun violence in America, The Big One, in which he exposes wrongdoing by big businesses, and Roger and Me, in which he attempted to convince General Motors Chairman Roger B. Smith to examine the effect that GM plant shutdowns had on Moore’s hometown of Flint, Michigan. His books include Stupid White Men, and Dude, Where’s My Country.
Moore’s visit to Lehigh is sponsored by the Visiting Lecturers Committee, University Productions, and the Humanities Center.
During the course of the academic year, many campus groups and organizations routinely offer a host of programs representing a broad spectrum of views to prompt discussion, engage people with different points of view and cause individuals to think and question.
