Linderman named a ‘most amazing’ library

The historic Linderman Library, named after founder Asa Packer’s daughter Lucy Linderman, was ranked No. 3 on College Rank’s list of the 50 Most Amazing College Libraries. The list was released Monday.

The library, one of the most iconic structures on the Lehigh campus, opened on April 21, 1878. Built by celebrated Philadelphia architect Addison Hutton, it boasts a spectacular stained glass dome. A large addition, which includes the Reading Room, was built in 1929.

The library contains an impressive collection of rare books, including Darwin’s Origin of Species and James John Audubon’s four-volume elephant folio edition of Birds of America
