For the fourth year in a row, INSIGHT Into Diversity named Lehigh as a recipient of the 2022 HEED Award, which recognizes colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion—making Lehigh one of only 104 honorees across the country.

INSIGHT Into Diversity is the oldest and largest diversity magazine and website and the HEED Award is the only national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities for their commitment to diversity and inclusion.

“Though we still have work to do, this recognition validates our efforts as we continue our journey towards a more diverse and equitable community, where everyone can experience a sense of belonging,” said Donald Outing, vice president for equity and community.

He thanked members of the community for their commitment and contributions. “Lehigh only receives recognition for such achievements if our entire community is on board,” he said.

Lehigh’s Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DI&E) Strategic Plan, which Outing said the selection committee cited as an effective component of Lehigh's DE&I efforts, outlined areas of ongoing focus, including enhancing Lehigh’s culture, improving institutional infrastructure, diversifying faculty and staff, and expanding student access and support.

The 2022 HEED Award recipients will be recognized in the November 2022 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.
