Lehigh opens West Coast office
That’s exactly what Lehigh has done in opening its Western Regional Office in San Francisco. By establishing the office, Lehigh hopes to build even stronger relationships between alumni in the western United States and their East Coast alma mater.
David Randall, director of development and alumni outreach, and John Leiner ’98 ‘02G, West Coast representative of the Office of Admissions, will coordinate Lehigh initiatives in the western region.
Through the office, Lehigh will host events, connect alumni with faculty and administrators visiting the area, recruit volunteers, serve as a center for alumni, raise awareness of the university’s academic and student life priorities, and actively recruit promising students to Lehigh.
Randall has been contacted by many western alumni since the office opening was announced in December.
It’s a place where alumni know they can reach us for a variety of reasons and connect to the university, he says. Plus, it gives Lehigh an increasing presence in a region where the university hopes to build a stronger identity for itself.
The office is already working closely with the Lehigh University Alumni Association’s clubs, resulting in an increase of activity and events. Already this year, they co-hosted a well-attended post-holiday brunch in San Francisco, featuring Dean Mohamed El-Aasser of the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science.
Randall reports that the Western Regional Office has been well received. I’ve heard from many alumni since the office opened. They’re delighted to have us here and eager to see more Lehigh activities in the future, he says.
