Lehigh mourns death of graduate student
It was with great sorrow that we learned today of the passing of a
member of our Lehigh graduate student family. Nancy Barrett, a teaching assistant in the English department pursuing her doctoral degree, and a resident of Saucon Village Apartments, was found dead in her apartment on Dec. 22.
The death appears to be due to natural causes, but we must await the official determination by the Coroner.
At approximately 12 p.m., University Police were asked to check on Nancy after her colleagues had not been able to contact her. After entering the residence and finding her deceased, the police immediately contacted the Coroner’s Office.
The police found no indication of suspicious circumstances, and have turned the investigation over to the Coroner’s Office.
This is a terrible tragedy and a loss to our Lehigh family. Our
heartfelt sympathies go out to Nancy’s family and friends.
