ISE department celebrates 60th anniversary

Lehigh University’s department of Industrial & Systems Engineering is marking its 60th anniversary, and the 35th anniversary of its Enterprise Systems Center, with a celebration on Thursday, April 16, 2009. The program will run all afternoon into the evening, culminating with a banquet for faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the department.

As part of the day’s events, John McGlade '76, '80G, president, CEO and chairman of the board of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., will deliver a speech as part of the department's Spencer C. Schantz Distinguished Lecture Series. McGlade earned a B.S. in industrial engineering 1976, and his M.B.A. in 1980, both from Lehigh. He currently serves on the board of directors of the American Chemistry Council, and is a member of the Society of Chemistry Industry Executive Committee, the SteelStax Leadership Team, and on Lehigh University’s Board of Trustees.
The event coincides with Lehigh's 2009 Academic Symposium: A Tradition of Excellence, which will highlight outstanding examples of Lehigh undergraduate and graduate student research and creative work from across the university, as well as noted speakers from Princeton, Yale, UCLA, and UC-Berkeley.

    Panel Discussion, Sinclair Auditorium
    A discussion of the past, present and future of the ISE field lead by a panel of industry and academic leaders.

  • 5:00pm-6:00pm
    Spencer C. Schantz Distinguished Lecture, Sinclair Auditorium

  • 6:30pm-10:00pm
    Banquet Dinner and Awards Ceremony, Wood Dining Room, Mountain Top Campus
    Awards ceremony and highlights of the department’s history, including recognition for the 35th anniversary of the Enterprise Systems Center, founded and led by Prof. Emory Zimmers.
