Ira Lieberman '64, senior manager for World Bank, to speak at Rauch

Ira Lieberman ’64, senior manager for the World Bank, will deliver a public address titled Globalization and Countries in Crisis: Turkey and Argentina - A Comparison at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 in Room 91 of the Rauch Business Center at Lehigh University.
Lieberman, a sector manager in the ECA region of the World Bank, is responsible for private and financial sector operations in Russia, Central Asia and Yugoslavia. From 1997-1999, he worked on the East Asia financial crisis and was responsible for the Bank’s assistance in Korea for corporate restructuring.
From 1995-1999, he was also responsible for the Consultative Group to Assist the Poorest (CGAP) Secretariat, a multi-donor initiative serving micro-financial institutions throughout the world.
From 1975 to 1982, Lieberman held various leadership positions at ICC Industries, Inc., a worldwide trading and manufacturing group, before being named president of the group's manufacturing operations. Prior to his involvement with ICC, he managed Touche Ross' consulting operations in Brussels. He has also worked at Young and Rubicam International and for Arthur Andersen in its consulting operations in New York.
Lieberman, who graduated magna cum laude from Lehigh University in 1964, has published widely on privatization and corporate restructuring, especially on the process in the transition countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union.
