IPD: Lehighs next generation of technical entrepreneurs
The co-founders of EcoTech Marine may have recently graduated from Lehigh Univerity, but they're still champions of its Integrated Product Development (IPD) program.
The coral reef hobbyists and tech-savvy entrepreneurs are just one of hundreds of Lehigh students to pass through IPD, a highly collaborative undergraduate experiment that has made considerable contributions to the marketplace. Like the saltwater pumps developed by EcoTech Marine, which has come full circle in becoming the newest corporate sponsor of the IPD program (they keep good company: GM, NASA and a few other pioneering corporations are part of the mix, too).
A new College of Business and Economics Web site features an audio slideshow and four articles about the IPD program:
• Follow three teams of students throughout the year as they partner with GM to design such accessories as active rear spoilers.
• EcoTech Marine is just one success story for a ground-breaking program that dates back to 1995.
• The Grand Prix wins the Grand Prize: learn just how Lehigh business students swept top honors in the 2007 Thalheimer Student Entrepreneurship Contest.
• Interim Dean Tom Hyclak discusses integration and collaboration in an interview.
