Greek houses vie for Iron Chef title

Twelve Greek houses will battle from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 to become Lehigh’s next Iron Chef.
The inaugural Progressive Dinner and Iron Chef Competition, sponsored by Lehigh University’s Healthy Hawks, will feature one secret ingredient that each Greek house team (made up of three chapter members) will then be assigned to create into an appetizer, entrée or dessert. Recipes will be approved by the Healthy Hawks.
A $5 ticket grants entry into all of the participating houses. Tickets will be stamped after each house visit, and visitors will vote for the house with the best food on the back of their ticket. A prize will be given to the house, based on the composite score of number of votes received for favorite food and number of participants from each house.
“Our Progressive Dinner and Iron Chef competition is a great way to combine a healthy food item, which will be the secret ingredient, and healthy physical activity like walking,” says Stephanie Berger ’07, an international relations and French major and a Healthy Hawks peer educator.
Berger encourages students, staff, and faculty to come out and cheer on the participating Greek houses. “For $5, ticket holders will get to witness creative cooking and taste great food, while enjoying a crisp walk through our beautiful campus on a beautiful fall day.”
For more information or to purchase tickets at the Health Center (Gold Plus accepted), please contact Stephanie Berger at slb204@lehigh.edu. Deadline to purchase tickets is Wednesday, Oct. 18.
All proceeds from the Iron Chef Competition will assist the Healthy Hawks toward the cost of attending the 2006 Bacchus and Gamma Peer Education Network conference, where they will present their Pyramid Puzzled program.
