Football wrap-up
The Patriot League co-champions faced off with James Madison University on Saturday, Nov. 27 in a Division I-AA first-round playoff game. The Dukes beat out our Hawks by one point; the final score was 14-13.
The team finished ranked No. 16 nationally by The Sports Network. This Patriot League title was the Hawks seventh, another record under our belts.
The team finishes with a 9-3 record overall and was 5-1 in the Patriot League, losing only to Lafayette, a 24-10 upset.
The Hawks looked good in the beginning of that much-anticipated game, scoring on their first possession, but Lafayette scored 17 points in a third quarter rally that day in front of 14,000 fans at Fisher Field in Easton.
The season is still considered a success, as 15 players were named to All-League teams, a league-best. Eight of these players were named to the first team All-League; meaning Lehigh comprises half the honors team. Adam Bergen, Jason Morrell, Justin Terry, Tom Alfsen, Tristan Lawrence, Anthony Graziani, Karrie Ford and punter Kyle Keating – all seniors – each received a nod. Seven Lehigh players were named to the second team All-League.
