An eventful spring
Okay folks, listen up! There are a lot of important events coming up in the next couple of months. Important for whom you ask? Important for you, Lehigh and your Alumni Association. I hope you can come back to campus for one or all of them!
If not, do not worry, we have the power to make you feel like you were here through stories with great images in the Alumni Bulletin and through video on the university Web site. So make sure to check out your Alumni Connection e-newsletter for the latest news each month.
From March 12-14, President Alice P. Gast travels to Los Angeles and San Francisco for the California Swing. The swing offers alumni the opportunity to meet Alice in small group settings followed by Q&A sessions. There will be additional receptions in Washington, Boston, Philadelphia and New York. Visit our Presidential Receptions Web page for more details as they become available.
You will hear me speak about this next event a few more times simply because of its historic importance for Lehigh. I personally invite and encourage all of you to attend Dr. Gast’s official inauguration as Lehigh’s 13th president on Friday, April 13 in Stabler Arena. Events celebrating the inauguration will span three days and include an academic symposium on Thursday, April 12 featuring outstanding scholars from Lehigh and other major universities. A Family Day of Service will be held Saturday, April 14 featuring a 5K run/walk, establishment of a community garden and an expanded version of the annual Spring Fling event for community children. For information on all of the inauguration events, check out the new inauguration Web site.
Save the date! On May 2, the Lehigh Club of New York honors a distinguished recipient with its prestigious “L-in-Life” Award. This year the 61st recipient, and the first female winner, will be Karen L. Stuckey ’75.
Another reason to come back to South Mountain—the beginning of a new tradition on May 18-21 with “Linked by Tradition” Reunion 2007. Gather with your classmates to show the Class of 2007 what it really means to be Lehigh for Life! Click here for more information and to register.
Great! Now you know what events are coming up and I know you are writing the dates in your calendar before you delete this e-mail. You will receive specific details as it gets closer to each event date. You can always visit the Alumni Association Web site or call our general number at (610) 758-3135 with any questions.
