College of Education students honored

The two College of Education students were recognized for the prestigious awards at the college’s second annual awards dinner in November.
The American Psychological Association’s Minority Fellowship Program was developed to increase the knowledge of issues related to ethnic minorities and mental health and to improve the quality of mental health treatment delivered to ethnic minority populations. The program provides financial support and professional guidance to individuals pursuing doctoral degrees in psychology.
Bethea, a fourth-year doctoral student in the College of Education’s counseling psychology program, successfully completed all of her required courses and maintains a grade point average of 3.92. She volunteers as a teaching assistant and has served as the student representative to the counseling faculty.
Spivey presented her pre-dissertation research at the Cross-Cultural Roundtable at Teacher’s College in February 2003. She has established herself as a young professional with robust potential in the field of counseling psychology.
