Celebrating success, on and off the gridiron
What do you get when you combine great football, enthusiastic Lehigh alumni, and good food and drink in locations all across the country? The technical phrase is telecast, but the layman’s phrase is a great party! Yes, the tradition of bringing folks together to support the Lehigh march against Lafayette continues. An estimated 4,000 of you will watch the most-played college football rivalry with fellow alums in more than 55 locations from as far away as Honolulu and as close by as Philadelphia and New York.
The telecast is coordinated through the Lehigh University Alumni Association office, where dedicated alumni volunteers work with our staff to identify and set up the various locations. Of the many events we hold, it is these off-campus events (that occur in multiple locations and happen concurrently) that prove to be most challenging. What makes the task easier for all of us is when you visit the telecast Web site and register early. Once you register, you’ll get a confirmation e-mail with all the details you need. On game day, Saturday, Nov. 20, you’ll gather with other faithful to cheer Lehigh on to victory. Register today!

We are proud of the work that we have accomplished in this past year and this document is our “report card” to show you how we did. We annually set goals for each of our programs and we look to find measurable results in every area. My background in the coaching world has taught me that you can’t improve what you don’t measure … so we measure everything!
In many ways, we are reporting on more than just the year behind us. We are telling the story of what we have done over the last three years since I came on board as the Executive Director of the Alumni Association. 2004-2005 marks my “senior year” in this role and in the past year (and since the fall of 2001) your Alumni Association has come a long way. We continue to evolve and develop new programs, we are working harder than ever to increase the satisfaction of our alumni, and we continue to improve the manner and frequency with which we communicate with our alumni.
We can also now claim that we are your “Award-Winning Alumni Association.” The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) recognizes outstanding Alumni Relations programs each year on a national level. This year, 2004, marks the third year in a row we have been presented a “National Circle of Excellence, Gold Medal Award” in the Alumni Relations category. The past three years, we have won in the following areas:
2002 – Regional Clubs Programs (Jill Anderson ‘91, Director)
2003 – Young Alumni Reunion (Bob Wolfenden, Director)
2004 – Student Alumni Programs (Jen Lichty, Director)
To be recognized just once with this award is a significant achievement. To win the award three years in a row is an absolute honor and we are thrilled!
We continue to enhance the stature of the LUAA through advances in several areas: winning the CASE District II silver medal for Alumni Relations, Reunion Programs (Janet Tucker ’85G, Director); maintaining an important regional presence through our Clubs program; launching a new alumni Web site and an online alumni directory; conducting our second annual Young Alumni Reunion; implementing our Association of Student Alumni (ASA) program; recruiting an active Alumni Admission Outreach (AAO) volunteer base; and organizing several highly attended and in-demand career development programs. The LUAA was also deeply involved with the Strengthening Greek Life effort via the Greek Task Force. The Lehigh University Alumni Association will continue to adapt and change, and meet the needs of our alumni, future and present. I see an organization that continues to grow bigger, better, and more modern. We can lead, we can be cutting edge, and we can deliver more for our alumni than ever before. We can legitimately become the best Alumni Association in the country … and the only thing good enough for Lehigh is the best!
